Lesson 5

You’re here · Your first hour

Your first hour

No fluff. One Bot. One small job. Then you walk away.

  1. 1

    Download the Grok Bot app

Phone or desktop. It is its own app — not the @grok account on X, and not the regular Grok chat window.

  2. 2

Create one Bot with a sentence

Example: “You handle my research. You never buy anything. You ask me before you send mail.” That sentence is the job description.

  3. 3

Give it access only when it asks

Like handing a coworker a guest login. You help with the first sign-in and any “is this you?” check. You do not dump a list of passwords into the chat.

  4. 4

    Give one real, small job

Something you actually need this week. Not a TED Talk prompt. One task with a clear stop line: “Don’t buy. Don’t send. Don’t book.”

  5. 5

    Go do something else

Cook. Commute. Sleep. That is the point. If you sit and watch it click, you hired a screensaver.

  6. 6

    Read what it brought back

A shortlist, a draft, a cart, a file. Then say yes, no, or “try again with this tweak.”

Good first job

“Find 3 quiet coffee shops near me that open before 7am. One paragraph each. Don’t book anything.”

Small. Real. Has a stop line. You can go make eggs.

Too big for day one

“Run my whole business while I sleep.”

That’s a movie. Day one is an errand, not a coup.
