What you can actually ask it to do
Everyday jobs. Each card is the ask, what the Bot does, and when it should ping you instead of “being helpful.”
“Clean up my messy downloads folder and file the important stuff.”
- What the Bot does
- Opens the folder, sorts junk from keepers, files the keepers, leaves you a short list of what moved.
- When it pings you
- Pings you if two files look equally important, or if something looks private.
“Find 3 quiet Airbnbs near [city] under $X for these dates. Shortlist with links.”
- What the Bot does
- Clicks through the listing sites like a person, compares noise/location/price, writes a one-pager with links.
- When it pings you
- Stops before booking. You pick. Then it can walk the reservation up to “confirm.”
“Watch this inbox for invoices, log them, chase the late ones in my voice.”
- What the Bot does
- Reads new mail, logs amounts and due dates, drafts polite-but-firm follow-ups that sound like you.
- When it pings you
- Never sends the chase until you say “send.” Especially the spicy ones.
“Read what’s happening on X about [topic] this week and give me 7 bullets.”
- What the Bot does
- Reads the public conversation, skips the yelling, brings back seven useful bullets — not a novel.
- When it pings you
- Asks if you want sources, or a version you can paste to your team.
“Walk through booking this appointment site and stop before I confirm.”
- What the Bot does
- Clicks the ugly calendar, fills the forms, gets you to the last screen.
- When it pings you
- Stops on the confirm button. You take the last step.
“Learn how I reorder from this store once, then do it monthly.”
- What the Bot does
- Watches you (or follows your notes) one time, saves the steps, runs them again later.
- When it pings you
- Fills the cart. Does not pay. You approve each month.
Three things it should not do without you
Safety in plain language. You’re still the adult in the room.
Don’t send money
Carts are fine. Checkout is yours. If a site asks to pay, the Bot should freeze and text you.
Don’t hit send on an angry email
Drafts are cheap. Sent is forever. Keep a rule: nothing leaves without your okay.
Don’t share passwords it shouldn’t have
First login and 2FA are you helping a new hire onto a site — you tap “yes” on your phone. Never paste a password into the chat.
